A KIDDERMINSTER man, who collects old coins as a hobby, has come across five war medals in his collection, which he hopes to reunite with their owners.
John Fudge, of Elm Grove, Stourport-on-Severn, collects old books, coins, medals and postcards, and after reading previous stories in the Shuttle about war medals, decided to try and trace the owners of those in his collection.
The medals have inscriptions on them and the first is believed to read: 202681 Private N STOKES, Royal Berkshire Regiment.
The second reads: Deal 8819 – S Private A Sherlock, RM.
The third reads: 38822 S.J.T A KAY, R.A.M.C.
Mr Fudge has another two medals which were awarded to the same person, an E.L Watkins, which read: WR – 43253 – PNR. E. L. Watkins, RE.
Mr Fudge said: “I just collect anything old. They are just things I have been picked up over the years.
“Where these came from, I just do not have a clue. They could have come in a box of old coins I brought, I can’t remember.
“It would be nice if they could be returned to the owner or their family or if anyone knows about them.”
