MORE than £1,700 was raised by the Kidderminster RSPCA at its annual charity event.

The RSPCA Kidderminster and District’s Autumn Bash took place at St George’s Hall in Bewdley, where more than 100 people were entertained by live music from local band The Starving Rascals, followed by a fish and chip supper.

Erica Copson, event organiser, said: “The night was a huge success and we were really thrilled with the amount raised and even managed to beat last year’s total by more than £100.

“We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the event.”

The highlight of the evening was a charity auction and raffle where those in attendance won various prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.

Money raised from the event will now go to helping local animals in desperate need of homes.

Karen Drake, volunteer fundraising co-ordinator, said: “It’s a fantastic result. As RSPCA branches are primarily responsible for raising funds locally, the money raised is vital to enable us to continue helping animals in our area.”
