ROAD surface temperatures are forecast to fall to minus five centigrade this evening (January 22) and Worcestershire County Council’s gritters will again be out from 6pm.
Light and patchy hoar frost is expected to form along with some localised freezing fog patches.
With temperatures continuing to fall sharply overnight, Councillor John Smith OBE, Cabinet Member for highways, has urged drivers to take special care.
He said: “Grit has never been a miracle cure, so, as always, the message is to never assume it’s safe to travel at normal speeds even if you think a highway has been treated.”
Gritting crews will be on standby throughout the evening and will monitor conditions on a regular basis.
