AN HISTORIC Stourport pub has re-opened its doors following a six-figure refurbishment programme which has also brought in 30 jobs.

The new-look Old Beams, just off the town’s Dunley Road, has been officially unveiled by Worcestershire pub group Scoff and Quaff, after a £150,000 overhaul of the former 16th century farmhouse.

The six-week refurbishment has seen the grade two listed in transformed into a 130-cover gastro pub with a new menu, a stone pizza oven and newly designed outdoor terraces.

The job vacancies, across a number of roles, have also been filled at the country inn which will be led by the new-look management team of Jess Vernalls, Josh Bell and Alex Rice.

Nick Mossop, director of Scoff and Quaff, said: “The refurbishment of the Old Beams has given a new lease of life to the pub and one of Stourport’s historic landmarks.

“We want to attract families and couples to the Old Beams and make it renowned as a place to relax and enjoy quality, locally-sourced food.

“I think we have created somewhere really special and the feedback, from both locals and visitors to the town, has been exceptional.”

To celebrate the re-opening Mr Mossop, and fellow directors Stephen Ballard and Brian Hulme, hosted a special event that was attended by 300 people, including Mark Garnier, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Wyre Forest.

The Old Beams offers breakfast, lunch and evening menus. A loyalty scheme for customers will also be launched.

Scoff and Quaff’s other pubs include the Crown and Sandys in Ombersley and the Ewe and Lamb near Bromsgrove.
