YOUNG people in Kidderminster are being invited to a tasty treat during the Easter school break as part of a High-NRG day at the Glades leisure centre.

The fun starts on Wednesday April 11, at 10am, with activities including circus skills, face painting, sports and basic first aid. There will also be an opportunity to sample snacks, including fresh fruit and home-made vegetable soup.

The Oldington and Foley Park Community Network - OFPCN - works with communities in Wyre Forest, including Oldington and Foley Park, the Horsefair, Broadwaters and the Walshes.

Sharon Tansley and Joanne Knight, of the community network, said the day would be "packed with activities, tasty snacks and chances to win prizes". Gillian Frame, of Wyre Forest District Council, said: "It's going to be great fun."

Chris Swanson, Worcestershire Primary Care Trust's public health co-ordinator, said: "The day is about fun, activity and a healthy lifestyle.

"Eating well is the first step to being healthy and the snacks on offer at the event will certainly give young people the high energy they will need for the day's activities.

"I will also be on hand to answer any questions young people may have about diet and exercise."

Sarah Turner, of the Horsefair, Broadwaters and Greenhill Partnership, said: "This is exactly what we need for young people in the area - something fun, which they can learn from at the same time."

Supporters of the event include Kidderminster and District Lions Club, Oldington and Foley Park Pathfinder and the Co-op.

Anyone living in Oldington and Foley Park, the Horsefair, Broadwaters or the Walshes who would like to book a place for the High-NRG day can contact Sharon Tansley or Jo Knight on 01562 513393.
