A KIDDERMINSTER beauty queen will be going through the gears after receiving a boost in her bid to become Miss England.

Chloe Palmer, who currently holds the Miss Worcestershire title, will be taking on a Personal Triathlon on August 1 that will see her horse riding, cycling and then running 33 miles to get from Kidderminster to the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.

And, to help her complete the 24-mile cycling part of the challenge, Chloe has been provided with a bike for the event by Overspoke Bikes in Bewdley.

The delighted 20-year-old said: “I have been shown amazing support by Overspoke Bikes’ who have provided me a bike for the day’s event.

“My uncle, Anthony Palmer, uses owner Mark Young’s shop regularly to maintain his bike and it is thanks to him that this opportunity has come along.

“It is a fabulous bike which I am currently practising on to get used to the different posture needed to ride it. It will make the ride a lot smoother and quicker so I will hopefully keep within my six hour target.

“On the day I am going to be having lots of support along the route from my partner Lee Cox, mum Lisa Palmer, and my uncle who is a dab hand at bike riding - just in case I have a problem along the way!”

Completing this challenge will help her in her battle to be crowned Miss England, the finals for which will be held on August 13 and 14 at the Ricoh.

But the most important aspect for all entrants will be fundraising for the organisers’ worldwide charity ‘Beauty with a Purpose’, which supports disadvantaged children.
