PUPILS and staff at a Kidderminster primary school have celebrated the opening of their new £650,000 state-of-the-art classrooms.

The new building at Heronswood Primary School was officially opened by head teacher, Rhoda Pierpoint, and Wyre Forest MP, Mark Garnier, on Monday (October 19).

Work on the extension started in April 2014 and staff and pupils have been waiting to move into the new wing.

The project cost £650,000 in total and was fully funded by Worcestershire County Council.

The new classrooms provide a modern, bright and spacious area for the year five and six pupils at the school. In addition, there is also a new entrance area, lobby, library and wrap around facility.

Mrs Pierpoint said: “Heronswood Primary School is an amazing place to be.

“Our children inspire us on a daily basis and we ensure they get the very best education – which excites and motivates them to love learning.

“We are delighted with the new additions to our school and are so pleased to see the children taking a real pride in their new rooms.”

Mark Garnier added: “It was a real pleasure to be able to help open the new classrooms.

“Heronswood is a school I have worked with over the last few years and it is a school that has done amazing things during that time.

“I am so pleased to see them doing so well and the school is a prize asset for both Spennells and Wyre Forest.”
