A KIDDERMINSTER children’s trust has attempted to break a world record for the longest Christmas cracker pulling chain.

Crackerjacks Children’s Trust attempted to crack the Guinness World Record to raise funds and awareness for the trust and its work to support children with disabilities and their families.

The attempt took place at Haybridge High School and Sixth Form Centre, in Hagley, on Thursday (December 17).

More than 1,000 students, teachers, local dignitaries and members of the public took part in the huge cracker pulling event.

The event also raised more than £1,000 for the trust.

Terry Bull, co-director of the trust, said: “This has been a massive logistical event that would not have been possible without Haybridge High School, students, staff and the volunteers that witnessed the event.”

The trust will now have to wait to see if they broke the current record of 798 participants in Ireland, in December 2014.
