The past year has been yet another fantastic success for the Samurai Judo Club, both for the club as a whole and for individual members.

The club was recognised in the past year at the 2nd placed club out of approximately 1,000 British Clubs, in the annual League Table of National Success.

For a club to gain this National recognition is a great achievement and a true testament to the outstanding work that the club does within the community.

2015 also proved to be a very successful year for the individual members of Samurai. At National level, Samurai were successful in reaching the podium a total of 21 times, winning seven gold, five silver and nine bronze medals.

And most recently Samurai just achieved their best ever British National Championships results with a total of 6 medals with Gold for Leah Grosvenor.

Proving success was not just limited to National competition, members of the club were also successful in reaching the podium at International level winning five European gold, three silver and three bronze medals.

The club is equally proud of having the strongest group of judo referees, both junior and adult, and the strongest group of judo competition organisers in the country.

The club is the only British judo club which excels in both contest Judo and Kata.

The club has the ethos of respect, friendship, social responsibility and character development of young players in particular and all players in general.

Olivia Turner’s gold medal at the European Special Needs Championships shows that everybody can achieve and that the club is totally inclusive.

The work Samurai do on and off the matt, proves they are a credit to the Wyre Forest community and the sport of Judo
