Ben is Samurai Judo Club, without him a lot of the success which the club experiences on and off the matt wouldn’t be possible.
He assumes many roles within the club in order to contribute as much as he can. Currently Ben is the coach of the competition squad at the club and has recently qualified as a Level Two coach (UKCC).
Alongside his coaching commitments he also organises the competitions and has been named the tournament director for the British Championships.
Ben is forging a career in accountancy and works for free as the clubs accountant and auditor. These are just a few of the various roles he has taken on since becoming part of the club more than a decade ago.
Ben has expertise to a high standard in every field of judo and is an indispensable member of the club as well as making significant contributions at national level.
Players respect him as a coach but also as a person who is making a success of his life in every respect. He is seen as a key person for the long term future of the club.
Samurai Judo Club will remain to be the success they have been in the Wyre Forest and nationally for years to come with the likes of Ben Newbury acting as a driving force for the club and the sport.
