CAMPAIGNERS against the possible killing of badgers in Herefordshire held a stall in Ledbury town centre last Saturday, May 14, to gather support for their efforts to stop any cull.

The Government has not announced details of a Herefordshire cull, but campaigners believe it is only a matter of time.

Ronald Lee, Communications Officer for Worcestershire Vegans and Veggies, whose members assisted the No Herefordshire Cull Group at the stall, said:

"We were delighted at the positive response from the public and the dozens of people who signed postcards to the government urging them to call off the cull.

"This was further evidence of the great love that people in this country have for badgers and the very strong opposition to the killing of these animals."

He added: "The vast majority of the British population are opposed to the slaughter of badgers and are appalled that the government wants to authorise the killing of 100,000 of them nationwide.

"Hundreds of badgers have already been shot in Gloucestershire, Somerset and Dorset in the last three years, and now it is intended to start killing them in Herefordshire."
