DELIGHTED youngsters and staff from a Kidderminster special needs school have been donated two trikes from a Wyre Forest councillor.
Nathan Desmond visited Wyre Forest School, in Habberley Road, to present the two specially adapted machines to help the pupils’ development.
Parent volunteer Kelly Jones-Whale contacted Councillor Desmond, who represents the Foley Park and Hoobrook ward, explaining the benefits of the trikes.
She said they would help youngsters with special educational needs with benefits including improving muscle tone, providing increased sensory experiences and raising pupils’ awareness of how their own bodies move.
One of the classes of pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties use the trikes as part of their PE lessons to support their physical development.
Pupil Chloe Wainwright said she was delighted to be able to ride the trike. She added: “I've never ridden a bike before. It's easy to ride and exciting.”
Councillor Desmond added: “We are delighted to provide the school with apparatus that will benefit many of the pupils, supporting both their physical and social development.”
