A KIDDERMINSTER grandmother is celebrating after winning a year’s supply of ice cream from her favourite brand – which brings back memories of her old home in Aberdeenshire.

Julie Morrison joins a lucky few who have been awarded a free year’s supply of ice cream from maker Mackie’s of Scotland – ensuring she can keep enjoying the finer things in life.

Every month for a year, one ‘Friend of Mackie’s’ – who have registered on their website – is picked to receive vouchers entitling them to 26 litres of ice cream along with a selection of Mackie’s recently launched chocolate bars.

Julie was ecstatic to receive the news on her birthday and will share the prize with her two daughters and grandson.

She said: “I joined Friends of Mackie’s because my whole family love the ice cream.

“It is great having the opportunity to have everyone round for a weekly treat, the little one loves it.

“I am a bit of an ice cream purist in that I don’t really go overboard on toppings and my favourite flavour is undoubtedly vanilla.”

Julie used to live Inverurie – less than 10 miles from Mackie’s Aberdeenshire farm – but now resides in Kidderminster and was delighted to make the connection to her old home.

Julie added: “We still make the trip back up to Scotland on a regular basis to see friends and I am sure they will be pleased to see a couple of tubs making their way back northward.”

Karin Hayhow, managing director of Mackie’s Scotland, said: “The reaction from everyone who has won a year’s supply so far has been lovely to see and Julie’s story and past link to Mackie’s farm makes for an extra special connection.”
