DETECTIVES are investigating reports of a serious assault in Bewdley which has left a woman in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Officers from West Mercia Police are investigating the incident which took place between 6.10pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday (August 10), near Acacia Avenue, in Bewdley.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, was found on the riverside, near Acacia Avenue, with multiple injuries which are believed to be the result of a serious assault.
She was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious, but stable condition.
A 29-year-old man from Kidderminster has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and is currently in police custody.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Claire Masters said: "We believe that the victim and the person who inflicted her injuries are known to each other.
"We are keen for any witnesses to what happened to come forward to police as quickly as possible."
