Travellers parked up on a Wordsley park have been served with a notice ordering them to leave or face court action.

Several caravans remained on King George V Park, off Lawnswood Avenue, this afternoon (Monday September 19) after about 12 initially arrived at the site last Friday.

Ward councillors say their phones haven’t stopped ringing since the group parked up but they have stressed they have been liaising with the police and Dudley Council to try and bring about a swift resolution to the situation which has put the community on edge.

A man was arrested in Stourbridge this morning (Monday September 19) after a hit and run near Hob Green Primary School last week.

Police confirmed a 27-year-old man was arrested at an address in Stourbridge in the early hours of this morning on suspicion of assault.

Two young children, aged three, and two women were knocked down in Hob Green Road, Wollescote, at 9am last Monday (September 12).

A Quarry Bank man has been jailed for more than six years after he brutally raped a single mother he "failed to charm".

Jonathan Ngolo, of Wavell Road, ignored the victim's tearful pleas for him to stop and "treated her with contempt", according to Judge James Burbidge QC at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The judge said the 26-year-old had deliberately gone after the woman and "made a significant play for her".

Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has been fined £1,000 for making a racist comment to a black security guard at a public event.

Dudley Magistrates Court was told Gascoigne humiliated Errol Rowe, who had been assigned to protect him during his An Evening with Gazza show, by asking him: "Can you smile please, because I can't see you?"

Ordering Gascoigne to pay Mr Rowe £1,000 in compensation, District Judge Graham Wilkinson told the retired star: "You sought to get a laugh from an audience of over 1,000 people because of the colour of Mr Rowe's skin."

AN internationally-renowned filmmaker has documented the artistic transformation of a one-mile section nestling underneath the M5 in Oldbury.

Alex Crowton, aged 38, shot the film The M5 Mile in July as artists descended on the industrial landscape for the urban design project MADE.

The day was a taster for the proposed Black Country Garden City which will see cafes, art galleries and bars installed under the mile stretch beneath the M5 between Oldbury and Smethwick.

Residents have been  urged to turn out in force to quiz Redditch MP Karen Lumley over the future of the town's embattled Alexandra Hospital.

A public meeting is being held at Redditch Town Hall next Wednesday, September 28 starting at 7pm.

It comes after the controversial loss of children's services at the Alex, and before that the closure of the gynaecology and maternity departments.

Thousands of keen twitchers flocked to Upton Warren to glimpse a sight of a rare bird making its first-ever recorded visit to Worcestershire.

Bird-enthusiasts from across the country travelled to The Christopher Cadbury Wetland Reserve at Upton Warren to catch sight of a single Baird’s Sandpiper.

The shoreline bird, which is rarely seen in the UK as it breeds in the high Arctic and winters in South America, attracted excited crowds on a flying visit between September 9 and 16.

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a crash in Kidderminster this afternoon (September 19).

Officers from West Mercia Police were called to Stourport Road at around 2pm following a crash between a white Fiat van and a black Honda motorcycle.
