FOUR girls have been picked to lead the parade at this year's Bewdley Carnival.

Elsie Claydon, seven, and Dallas Loveridge, seven, from Bewdley Primary School, and Mya Smith, six, and Xjaela Mai Braithwaite, six, from St Anne's Primary School have been picked as the Bewdley Carnival princesses and will lead the parade on Saturday, June 10.

Sue Matthews, of the Bewdley Carnival committee, said: "One of the most enjoyed parts about the Bewdley Carnival parade is the happy, smiling faces of our four princesses leading the parade through the town.

"This year's girls have been picked from the local primary schools.

"The girls have a lovely day and enjoy their ride on the float as it makes its way from Hales Park, along the Cleobury Road through the town, over the bridge and along Stourport Road to finish at the leisure centre field for the afternoon entertainment.

"This year's packed afternoon programme of entertainment will include Dangerous Steve. It is a thrill a minute with Dangerous Steve's fire and chain saw juggling, ladder balancing and blindfold motorcycle riding.

"Also on the field, we will have Bliss Gate Dog Training display team, HCW Wrestling, a glamba samba percussion group, Severnside School of Dance, Simon Airey the animal man, a wood carver, West Midlands Tae Kwon Do, a fun fair, bouncy castles, stalls and a bucking bronco."

Anyone who would like to have a stall on the carnival field, or enter a float or walking group in the parade, can ring Sue on 01299 401841.
