A CYCLIST has died after he was found collapsed in a road in Bewdley.
West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called at around 10.10am on Monday morning (August 7) to reports of a single vehicle collision - involving a male cyclist - on a hill on the B4194, Dowles Road - near to the caravan park.
It is believed the man collapsed and fell from his bike. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police officers closed Dowles Road as emergency services dealt with the incident and asked motorists to find other routes - but the road was later reopened at around 12.30pm.
A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "On arrival, ambulance staff found three members of the public carrying out CPR on a middle-aged man.
“Ambulance staff immediately took over and carried out advanced life support, but sadly, despite all efforts, it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
A spokesman from West Mercia Police added: "The incident has involved a male cyclist who is believed to have fallen off his bike along Dowles Road, by the junction of Woodthorpe Drive.
"Ambulance services were in attendance, but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
"The next of kin have yet to be informed.
"A road closure was in place on both carriageways along Dowles Road, whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.
“Investigating officers are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident, and are therefore appealing for anyone who may have been within the area and seen the cyclist prior to the incident, to come forward."
West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham to the scene.
