RESIDENTS are invited to get into the festive spirit with Hartlebury Castle's annual 'Christmas at the Castle' weekend.

Worcestershire County Museum will host the events on Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10, between 11am and 4pm.

One of the highlights of the day will be the chance to meet Father Christmas in his magical grotto and receive a special gift.

Youngsters can take part in a variety of craft activities including making a Christmas dove decoration, designing a mosaic coaster, getting their face painted and writing a letter to Father Christmas.

You can stir the Christmas pudding and make pomanders in the castle's scullery with the housemaid - who will be busy preparing food for the festive season. Out in the Carriage Circle the castle's coachman will be offering horse and carriage rides.

Joey the Juggler will entertain families with his balloon modelling and juggling skills, while Looby Lou will be painting faces.

Adults can take time to browse a wider selection of craft and gift stalls in the newly decorated Great Hall this year, and the whole family can enjoy the changing programme of entertainment from local choirs and musical groups.

Pippa Ashmore, events officer, said: "Christmas is all about enjoying ourselves and spending time with loved ones.

"The County Museum offers the perfect atmosphere for some traditional festive fun and entertainment."
