TWO men were taken to hospital after the van they were travelling in overturned on Worcester Road this morning (December 21).

Emergency services crews were called to reports of a crash involving one car on Worcester Road, in Kidderminster, at around 10.50am on Thursday morning (December 21).

The two men were trapped in the vehicle, with crews having to remove the windscreen of the van to rescue them.

They were both taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The passenger, a man in his 70s, suffered pain in chest and a head injury in the collision. He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

"The driver, a man in his 60s, was assessed on scene and was found uninjured but was taken to the same hospital as a precaution.

"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene."

A spokesman from West Mercia Police said: "The incident involved a yellow Renault van that had left the carriageway and overturned before hitting a metal fence.

"The driver, a man in his 60s, received head injuries and was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

"His passenger, a man in his 70s, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with suspected chest injuries.

"Emergency services including fire, ambulance and police were in attendance."

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service added: "The crash involved one overturned vehicle which had left the roadway. 

"Two people were physically trapped in the vehicle. The two male casualties were extricated from vehicle by removing the windscreen.

"One crew from Stourport fire station and one crew from Kidderminster attended the scene."

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 241S of December 21.
