SEVERN Trent have apologised to frustrated motorists caught up in delays near Kidderminster town centre as a result of “essential repairs”.
Four way traffic lights are currently in operation at the A448 Comberton Hill as the water company carries out urgent repairs to fix a sewer pipe.
But the work left drivers fuming as they were stuck in traffic during peak periods yesterday (Monday, January 22), with many taking to social media sites to express their displeasure.
Some said journeys that normally take a few minutes were taking them half an hour or more as they negotiated tailbacks.
The company said it hopes to complete the work by the end of this week and said sorry for the inconvenience caused. Alterations have also been made to the traffic lights in a bid to make traffic flow better.
A Severn Trent spokesman said: “Engineers are working to carry out essential repairs to a sewer pipe beneath Comberton Hill in Kidderminster.
“To allow the team to complete the work safely temporary traffic lights need to be in place.
“We know this caused disruption yesterday and we’ve made adjustments to the lights in order to keep traffic moving as much as possible.
“We’re really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, we hope to have the work complete and the road back to normal by the end of this week.”
