BIG-HEARTED shoppers at intu Merry Hill have raised £9,000 for a cancer support charity.
A cheque for £9,067.27 was awarded to The White House Cancer Support charity in Dudley thanks to donations raised by shoppers at intu Merry Hill through various fundraising activities, mostly during the festive season, including charity gift wrapping and the Wishmas Garden experience.
Caroline Webb, CEO at The White House, said: “We would like to give special thanks to intu and all those individuals who kindly donated.
"Raising £9,000 in approximately three weeks is an amazing achievement, and all money raised through the public’s generosity will go towards developing our current site, allowing us the opportunity to extend our services.
“Coming to terms with a cancer is difficult enough. However, I am sure that many patients and their families will gain strength and inspiration from knowing that on mass the public at large dug deep into their pockets to make their lives a little easier.”
Naomi Campbell, community development manager at intu Merry Hill, said: “As our local charity partner, and a cause close to the hearts of many of our shoppers and staff, we are thrilled to be able to handover a cheque for £9,000 to the hardworking and dedicated team so that they can continue to support those affected by cancer in the local community.”
The White House provides practical help, emotional support and information to people affected by cancer across the Black Country.
