A CLASSIC musical begins a 10-night run at a Kidderminster theatre this week.

Kidderminster Operatic & Dramatic Society will be performing ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ at the Rose Theatre from Thursday (March 8) to Saturday, March 17.

It is the first time the show has been performed by KODS and the group – including a host of new members who have recently joined – have been busy rehearsing with tap routines, songs and even learning new languages.

The ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ musical is based on the 1967 Academy-award winning movie starring Julie Andrews and is a spoof of the roaring 20s.

It is based on feisty Millie Dillmount, who plans to find a job and marry a wealthy employer.

Though fond of penniless paper-clip salesman Jimmy she's determined to marry well-heeled company man Trevor Graydon who loves Millie's room-mate Dorothy Brown.

As all four try to find love, evil landlady Mrs Meers schemes to sell the orphaned Dorothy into slavery.

The result is a musical full of madcap merriment and entertainment.

Tickets cost £14 apart from the opening night’s performance and the March 10 matinee where tickets cost £12.

They can be booked at the Rose Theatre Box Office, by telephoning 01562 743745 or on-line at www.rosetheatre.co.uk
