JAGUAR Land Rover (JLR) will cut production and not renew the contracts of around 1,000 temporary workers at its Solihull plant.

The UK’s biggest carmaker confirmed it is making adjustments due to “continuing headwinds impacting the car industry”, a source has told the Press Association.

It will announce its plans for 2018/19 to its workforce on Monday.

Lower fuel prices are believed to have been offset by air fares in March (PA)

INFLATION is expected to have held steady in March as a drop in food and fuel prices was offset by higher airfares around the earlier Easter holidays.

A consensus of economists forecast the Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) Consumer Price Index (CPI) to come in at 2.7% for March, in line with February’s reading and holding below the 3% recorded in January.

A BUSINESSMAN fighting for the “right to be forgotten” over a past crime has won a High Court action against Google.

The ruling in the man’s favour was made by a judge in London on Friday.

But Mr Justice Warby rejected a similar claim brought by a second businessman who was jailed for a more serious offence.

A judicial official said the suspect was detained on Tuesday, and is meeting an investigative judge who is expected to file preliminary charges.
