TALENTED young Wyre Forest dancers will be putting their best feet forward after being selected to appear in a major new ballet.

The five youngsters from Kidderminster and Stourport are currently rehearsing for the English Youth Ballet’s (EYB) Cinderella in Hollywood at Theatre Severn from June 22-23.

Kidderminster girls selected are King Charles I School pupil Fiona Garrett, aged 12, nine-year-old Darci Hull who attends Holy Trinity and Olivia Brooks, aged eight, who goes to Franche Community Primary.

Stourport sisters Millie and Evie Rush – aged 10 and eight – who go to Great Witley Primary have also been chosen.

Millie, Evie and Olivia go to Academy Theatre Arts dance school while Darci is a member of Starlight Dance Academy and Fiona hones her skills at Nicholson School of Dance.

Darci said: “I started dancing when I was five years old. I’m not sure why I started – I think my mum just took me along.

“I am most looking forward to dancing with EYB because I won the scholarship at the audition and I am excited to find out what we will be doing in rehearsals. I performed with EYB before as a Sweet in the Nutcracker.

“In the future I want to be Darci the Dancing Doctor so that when my patients are sad I can do a little dance to cheer them up.”

The ballet will also feature a host of international principal dancers while all soloist and corps de ballet roles in the production will be performed by dancers aged eight to 18 from the local area.
