MORE than 50 students at a Wyre Forest performing arts school will be bringing a classic musical to Stourport next week.

The Stourport Civic will host the Talking Props Performing Arts studio production of Les Misérables from Tuesday July 17 to Saturday, July 21.

It will feature 54 young people aged between six and 18 and is being directed by Talking Props principal Michael Neri with musical direction by Russell Painter.

All other elements of the show, including lighting and stage management will be run by Talking Props students.

The lead role of Jean Valjean will be played by Baxter College student Kane Taylor, marking his third show with the stage school.

Others include Harri Yafai as Marius, Rubi Bown and Niamh Hawkes sharing the role of Eponine with new comer Zoe Booth and long standing member Molly Hipkins sharing the role of Fantaine. Molly’s younger brother Sam will be playing Gavroche.

Younger members of Talking Props will share the roles of little Cosette and Little Eponine as well as forming a sensational ensemble of children.

Mr Thenadier will be played by Curtis Hawkes who like many others has been with the stage School since it opened its doors in 2014.

This year marks Curtis’ last performance with Talking Props before he heads off to university.

Michael, Principal said “This year marks our most ambitious production, as always it’s a team effort and down to the hard work of my team and students.

“As always our show is solely run by students, both on stage and behind the scenes, with one exception this year being sound.”

He added: “This show really isn’t to be missed. The way students have approached this musical is to be applauded, their voices and commitment to the piece is heart-warming and makes for an emotional performance.

“I wholeheartedly believe some of the future of the West End can be found on the Civic stage next week”
