WYRE Forest green-fingers have an opportunity to develop their skills on a new gardening course at Hartlebury Castle.

The historic site has recently become an approved Royal Horticultural Centre and will offer a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Garden Planning, Establishment and Maintenance for people wanting to improve their knowledge or start a career in gardening.

The Royal Horticultural Society course offers both theoretical and practical experience for gardening enthusiasts of any knowledge or ability and is a highly regarded qualification within the horticultural and academic community.

The grounds at Hartlebury Castle met the criteria set by the RHS which allows the course to be run.

Trustee and Lead Garden Volunteer Jane Finch said: “We’re delighted that the Royal Horticultural Society recognised Hartlebury Castle’s potential and gave us the approval to begin running courses.

“It’s wonderful that we can share our grounds with horticultural enthusiasts and provide a great learning opportunity.”

The course will commence on Tuesday September 25 from 10.30am to 2.30pm and lasts a full year.

The whole course costs £600, with extra exam fees if students choose to take them.

People who are interested in the course can visit www.hartleburycastle.com or call 01299 50797 for more information.
