A CAR crashed into a gas main in Stourport today (Monday, September 3) causing severe traffic congestion in the town.
Fire crews from Stourport and Kidderminster, along with ambulance and police, were called to Vale Road shortly before 10.30am this morning.
Paramedics gave precautionary checks to the male driver while gas engineers were called to deal with the leak.
The incident happened near to St Michael’s and All Saints Church and is still causing huge tailbacks in surrounding streets including Minster Road – which is blocked in both directions, Worcester Street, the Gilgal and Wilden Lane.
Motorists are encouraged to find alternative routes while the incident is being dealt with.
