A CULTURAL historian will enlighten guests at Bewdley Festival with a talk on suffragettes and feminist history.
Professor Maggie Andrews from the University of Worcester will discuss the importance of the Suffragettes in her talk "Hidden Heroines: The Feisty Women who won the vote’ at Bewdley Baptist Church from 2.30pm on Friday October 19.
Professor Andrews has released several publications exploring topics such as femininity and domesticity in twentieth century Britain, and the history of the Women's Institute movement, and is currently writing a monograph on Women and Evacuation in the Second World War.
She has previously held seminars Remembrance, Commemoration and Memorials in Contemporary Culture, working with the National Memorial Arboretum and Nottingham University,
She was also an adviser on the BBC World War One at Home project and historical consultant for the Radio 4 Drama “Home Front.”
