A KIDDERMINSTER theatre group will showcase a new musical comedy mash-up of Elvis Presley songs and Shakespeare.

The Carpet Trades Musical Theatre Company will delight enthusiasts with performances of All Shook up at the Rose Theatre from October 15 to 20.

The production is set in 1955 middle America where the dream of a young girl, and the visit of a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger, helps a town discover the power of rock and roll.

The story is based on Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night, and features a score full of Elvis Presley hits including Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Don't Be Cruel, and Can't Help Falling in Love.

The show's director Doug Forrester said: "All Shook Up is an amazing musical, having the music of Elvis and a story line inspired by Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

"The principal cast have worked hard at their characters and brought real feeling in to the music.

"As a result, like the best of romantic comedies, this is gonna be one of those shows that'll make you laugh and cry.

"Ultimately though, it’s a terrific high!"

Tickets for the shows can be booked at the Rose Theatre box office, by contacting 01562 743745, or online via www.rosetheatre.co.uk
