BROMSGROVE MP Sajid Javid has been forced to apologise to MPs after it emerged that the Home Office has been illegally requiring immigrants to provide DNA samples as part of their visa applications.
The Home Secretary revealed the children of Gurkhas, who were offered the right to settle in the UK under previous Government schemes, were among those affected.
The law states the provision of DNA evidence should always be voluntary and never mandatory, yet the Home Office said in nearly 450 cases immigrants were told they must provide samples.

ALMOST 11,000 drivers are still on Britain’s roads despite racking up enough penalty points for a ban.
Analysis of DVLA data reveals that 10,964 drivers have escaped a ban after accruing 12 or more points on their licence – the usual threshold for disqualification.
A 44-year-old man, who lives near the border of Wolverhampton and South Staffordshire, is the country’s worst serial offender, with a whopping 54 points.

Alain Robert climbs Heron Tower (PA)
A SKYSCRAPER climber, dubbed the French Spiderman, has struck again – this time at one of London’s tallest buildings.
Alain Robert, whose feats have included climbing Dubai’s 2,717ft (828m) Burj Khalifa, is tackling the Heron Tower in the City of London.
The 56-year-old daredevil, who is known for scaling skyscrapers with his bare hands, said before his climb: “I fully feel alive when my life is at stake. It may sound a bit scary and crazy but this is the way it is.”
