A MAN remains in custody following a 'full firearms incident' in Powys, Wales, which saw a gun fired towards unarmed police.
Dyfed-Powys Police launched an investigation following an incident on Monday, January 21, at Alltforgan, Llanwddyn, where a firearm was discharged at officers who had attended to assess his wellbeing.
Speaking in the days after the incident, police said a 44-year-old man from the Kidderminster area had been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and firearms offences.
Police have since confirmed that 44-year-old Richard Barnard, of Alltforgan in Oswestry, has been charged with possession of a firearm - a sawn-off shotgun - with intent to endanger life, possession of an imitation firearm, and acting in a manner likely to endanger an aircraft by firing at a police helicopter.
He appeared at Mold Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 25, when the case was sent to trial at crown court.
Mr Barnard remains in custody.
