A burst water main is causing chaos in Halesowen.

Residents and businesses have had their water cut off due to the burst main on the junction of Lutley Lane and Portsdown Road.

People reported on Facebook that water was pouring down the road like a river.

South Staffs Water said it had set up a three-way traffic management system. 

Andrea Goddard posted: "Heads up to those who don't know.

"Lutley lane is currently under water due to a burst water main at the top of Portsdown Road, the road appears to have dropped.

"Avoid at all costs."

Diane Fellows posted: "Big leak on Portsdown and Lutley Lane like a river."

Kirsty Ann Wilkes stated: "Burst pipe on Portsdown, just seen that the day nursery has had to close.

"Water company are saying 6 hours."

Tiger Lily Day Nursery has been forced to close.

It sent a message to parents saying: "A burst water pipe on Lutley Lane/Portsdown Road has affected the nursery.

"At present we have no water supply and the water company have stated it could take up to 6 hours.

"Due to hygienic reasons we have had to make the decision to close the Nursery ASAP.

"We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused."

A spokesman for South Staffs Water said: "We are currently repairing a burst main at the junction of Lutley Lane and Portsdown Road in Halesowen.

"Three-way traffic management is in place to allow the onsite team to access and repair the burst.

"Customers in the area may be experiencing low pressure or no water.

"We're really sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.
