A GLORIOUS half-term weekend is looming in York and North Yorkshire, with temperatures soaring as high as 15C.
High pressure over the Continent is going to feed more southerly winds across the UK, coming all the way from the Canary Islands, bringing exceptionally mild weather for February.
Forecasters say a maximum of 15C is possible in York today and again tomorrow, perhaps falling to 12C on Sunday.
Temperatures will only be a few degrees lower today and tomorrow than the highest maximum ever recorded in England in February - 19.7 °C, in London, on February 13, 1998.
Next week - which is half-term for York schoolchildren - is set to remain very mild, with temperatures staying in the teens, and more sunshine on the way.
