DROITWICH Spa boss Mark Owen has put local rivalry to one side and wished Worcester Raiders well in their bid for the league title.

All of the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One action is over but the championship remains undecided due to the abandonment of a match Raiders were winning in March.

Raiders led 3-1 at Bustleholme in the second minute of added time when a brawl broke out between players and staff from both teams and members of the crowd.

The result was initially published but has since been listed as abandoned with the record of the match, and most importantly the points, scrubbed for now.

The matter is believed to still be with the relevant county FAs.

Darlaston now lead the way by two points, meaning the decision over whether the result stands is likely to decide who gets the crown and the solitary promotion place.

“I would like to send my congratulations to Worcester Raiders and hopefully they will get their points back,” said Owen.

“Raiders and Darlaston are the most complete sides in the league. Either of them would be worthy champions.”
