STAFF at Russell's Hall Hospital will be stepping out for charity this weekend when they take part in a 10k walk for prostate cancer research.

Members of the urology team at the Dudley hospital will be taking part in the March for Men in aid of Prostate Cancer UK on Sunday June 9 at Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham.

The team, who have so far raised more than £1,000 in sponsorship, comprises clinical nurse specialists Tracey King and Sally Allison, directorate support manager Catherine Haynes, nurse secretary Suzanne Wooddissee, post CCT clinical fellow Susannah La-Touche and medical secretaries Kelly Cartwright, Rebecca Bate, Laura Slater, Hannah-marie Taylor and Michelle Hodgetts.

Anyone wishing to boost their sponsorship total can do so online at www.justgiving.com/Team-Urology2019.

Medical secretary Rebecca Bate said: "We will be join thousands of people raising funds and awareness of a disease that kills one man every 45 minutes in the UK.

"We have secretaries, nurses, management and consultants completing the 10k challenge and would like as many people to support us and raise money as possible.

"A large percentage of our patients suffer with or are affected by prostate cancer, with increasing numbers of new diagnoses every month.

"We are aware of just how important funding for prostate cancer research is."
