THE big-hearted boss behind Stourbridge's Craddocks Brewery is pulling out all the stops to launch a not for profit bar to help raise money for charities.

David Craddock, with help from a group of like-minded friends, hopes to launch a brand new bar in Birmingham's Great Western Arcade with the aim of donating all of the profits to charities and good causes.

The venture will be called the Good Intent and David said: "It will be among the first of its kind in the UK and we're excited by the prospect of being able to raise a glass and help good causes at the same time."

David, together with accountant Richard Ward, finance man Chris Hill and business expert Andy Donaldson, have started a crowdfunding page online to help raise £100,000 to cover the internal fit out of the bar which will "mirror the Victorian splendour of the Great Western Arcade".

To date they have raised around £200,000 in pledges but David said: "We have to raise £100,000 to give us the ability to open without any debt so that we can start donating money to charity straight away."

David, from Stourbridge, who has been a publican since the age of 21, already runs four award-winning pubs and two breweries - The Duke William and The Plough and Harrow in Stourbridge, The Talbot in Droitwich and The King Charles House in Worcester - and he said: "The Good Intent will be run in the same manner and with the same focus on delivering outstanding ales and ciders as the four existing, award winning Craddock's Brewery ventures.

"We intend to generate additional funds for the selected charity by showcasing events, focusing on music, food, drinks and the arts."

The venture will raise money for a different cause every three months and David said: "Who is not going to enjoy their beer more - drinking it in this beautiful environment, knowing their money's going to good causes?"

He hopes ultimately that the venture, which will be run as a Community Interest Company, will generate around £100,000 for charities each year.
