AN investigation is under way after a road worker's leg was crushed between a bus and a stationary lorry in Kidderminster town centre.

Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, paramedics and police, were called to the scene in Coventry Street just before 1pm on Thursday (June 13).

West Mercia Police said a man suffered "crush injuries" and an open wound to his leg as a bus negotiated the corner in roadworks.

The road worker was treated at the scene for "potentially serious injuries" and taken to hospital for further treatment.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was called to the scene and is now making enquiries, while police are examining CCTV footage in the area.

Diamond Bus said it is assisting police with the investigation.

A Diamond Bus spokesman said: "Diamond can confirm that we have been assisting local police officers, following the report of an incident in Coventry Street, Kidderminster.

"Information surrounding the incident is currently under investigation and until further clarification has been established, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
