A MAN from Stourport must undergo alcohol treatment after he stole dishwasher tablets from Tesco.

Thomas Harris, of New Street, pleaded guilty to theft when he appeared before Kidderminster magistrates on Monday (June 17).

The 32-year-old stole Fairy dishwasher tablets worth £22 from Tesco in Stourport on June 15 this year.

By entering the supermarket, Harris breached the terms of a criminal behaviour order made by Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on March 22.

A community order was made, requiring Harris to undergo six months of treatment for alcohol dependency at Swanswell.

He must also pay a victim surcharge of £84.95. No order was made for court costs because of the defendant's lack of means.

Also at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Monday, a Stourport man was remanded on bail for damaging a police cell in Kidderminster.

Brendan McGee, aged 30, of Layamon Walk, pleaded guilty to causing £200 worth of criminal damage to a glass brick in the cell belonging to West Mercia Police on June 15.

He was remanded on bail until August 9, when he will appear again at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court.
