IF there was any doubt over the work needed on the swing bridges in Warrington, these pictures will put an end to it.
Guardian photographer Mike Boden took these pictures showing the rust on Stockton Heath swing bridge.
The crossings in Latchford and Walton are equally bad.
Peel, which owns the bridges, has committed to the refurbishment of the 125-year-old bridges and has been holding discussions with contractors.
The cost to carry out the work at the three crossings is an eye-watering £1.5million.
Warrington South MP Faisal Rashid has called for the operation to begin swiftly.

However, he raised concerns over a potential six-month closure for each bridge during the works.
There is still no date for the work to start, but Peel has indicated the high level Warburton Toll bridge is likely to get a face-lift before the rest.
In the meantime, as these pictures show, the existing swing bridges continue to paint an increasingly grim picture for visitors to Warrington.
