A HOST of steamers of the rails and road will star alongside a fleet of locomotives at a Severn Valley Railway event.

The Steam of the Road rally will see steam rollers and wagons, traction engines and tractors parade through the streets of Kidderminster on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11.

The rally will see a procession of steam vehicles take to the roads both days, culminating with a climb up the hill to Kidderminster Station.

An array of full-size steam engines and miniature traction engines will be on display and in operation at the station, alongside the SVR’s own Coalyard Miniature Railway. Visitors can also sample a range of local ales at a beer festival on the concourse.

Live entertainment will take place at the station into the evening on Saturday, with local musicians Redwood –UK and Max Stockin performing.

Included in the variety of steam vehicles on display will be Wallis & Steevens Steamroller 8064, Tasker B2 Tractor 1592, Fowler Steamroller Survivor, Wallis & Steevens Traction engine Pedler, Burrell Road Loco Dorothy, Foster Showmans engine Admiral Beatty, Trotters 1 ton Roller, Foden C Type Tractor, Foden Traction engine and

Fowler Tractor No 8889.

The SVR’s events co-ordinator Lewis Maddox, said: “Our popular summer steam rally is bigger than ever this year, with not only a wide variety of steam-powered vehicles to admire in action and on display but also our beer and real ale festival and, free, live music on Saturday to get people dancing into the evening.”
