AN intrepid 71-year-old from Wolverley took a perilous plunge to raise money for a Wyre Forest Hospice.

Shelagh James, of Sebright Road, completed a skydive from 15,000 feet on Wednesday, August 28 in aid of KEMP Hospice, and has raised a total of £873 for the charity over the last few months.

The daredevil, who has five daughters, 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, says that she's always wanted to complete a skydive.

Shelagh said: "It's something I've always wanted to do, but was put on the backburner.

"I thought at 71 - if I don't do it now, I never will. It was fabulous, absolutely awesome."

Shelagh decided to turn her skydiving dream into a fundraising effort for a cause that is close to her.

"Rather than do this for pleasure, I thought why not do it for a reason," she said.

"KEMP were over the moon when I told them. The charity is very close to me.

"When I lost my Mother and my husband's stepsister, Kemp were fantastic and really supportive. My husband has recently been diagnosed with Dementia so I also know I will be needing their support again in the future."

Shelagh travelled to Hibaldstow in Lincolnshire to make the jump, visiting her granddaughter Kerry and family.

People can still donate to Shelagh's JustGiving page via justgiving.com/fundraising/shelaghjames

Shelagh added: "I would love to do it again and I would like to thank everybody for donating and helping out."
