A RETIRED sports therapist is hosting an event to support the mental health of people in Wyre Forest.

Adrienne Potter of Bewdley Hypnotherapy, has organised her first Health & Wellness Fayre, taking place on Sunday, September 15 at the Mercure Heath Hotel, Habberley Road, Bewdley.

The event aims to bring the community together and is in collaboration with local businesses, all of whom will be promoting health and wellness.

The Fayre will feature martial arts, pilates, Indian head massages and a host of stalls promoting mental wellness.

The organiser says this the event is to improve mental wellness, where people can interact with one another, away from social media.

Adrienne re-evaluated her life back in 2013 when she was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and found herself having to give up a career she spent many years building.

After a couple years of trying to get back on the right professional track, Adrienne re-trained as a clinical hypnotherapist and now runs her business alongside local breast cancer support group Bosom Buddies, a group founded by Jo Buckland, which Adrienne now sits on the committee of.

Since the foundation of Bosom Buddies and the opening of Bewdley Hypnotherapy 12 months ago, Adrienne says it's become "increasingly obvious for the continued need for support in our local community where mental health and wellness is concerned."

She also feels that while support networks are available, "not many know what support is available or how to access it."

Adrienne said: "Support isn’t just about the talking therapies, it is also about going out and getting active, communicating with others, being kind to yourself and learning to create a better life balance."

The event will take place between 10am and 3pm.

Entrance costs £2.50 per person and proceeds will be split between charities Kemp Hospice & Mind.
