WETHERSPOONS pubs in Halesowen, Cradley Heath and Rowley Regis are set to cut the price of all food and drink this week.

The Moon Under Water in High Street, Cradley Heath, The Britannia in Halesowen Street, Rowley Regis and The William Shenstone in Queensway, Halesowen, are all supporting Tax Equality Day, which calls for a VAT reduction in the hospitality industry.

Prices at the Wetherspoon pubs will be reduced by 7.5 per cent for one day only tomorrow (Thursday September 19).

The pub chain said it is reducing prices by 7.5 per cent as that is what it would do permanently if the 20 per cent VAT rate was taken off sales of food and drink.

Halesowen News:

The Moon Under Water manager, Gabrielle Tandy, said: "We are proud to support the campaign to reduce the level of VAT within the hospitality industry.

"Customers coming to the pubs on Thursday September 19 will find the price of their food and drink is lower than normal.

"We are keen to highlight the amount customers could save if VAT in pubs was lowered permanently."

At present all food and drink in pubs is subject to 20 per cent VAT, compared to supermarkets which benefit from a zero VAT rate on all food.

This means supermarkets are able to sell alcohol at a discounted price.

Halesowen News:

Tomorrow if the total price of a meal and drinks was £10 it would be reduced to £9.25 at Wetherspoons pubs.
