VOLUNTEERS from more than 30 organisations will be hoping to recruit like-minded community spirits at a showcase event in Stourport next month.

Representatives from charities, support groups and other organisations will be available to talk to people about a host of volunteering opportunities on Thursday, October 17 at Stourport Civic Centre from 10am to 2pm.

The Volunteer and Skills Fair organised by Wyre Forest District Council, in partnership with Kidderminster College and Job Centre Plus.

Local groups who rely on the goodwill of volunteers will be promoting several roles from providing admin support, running sport classes, completing DIY projects and much more.

Free refreshments will also be available on the3 day.

Councillor Nicky Martin, cabinet member for housing, health, wellbeing and democratic services said: “Come along to our fair to find out about the various volunteering opportunities we currently have in Wyre Forest.

“Volunteers are the backbone of many community groups in the district, which is why we want to give them a platform to showcase all the amazing things they do.

“If you have a few hours spare each month, this could be your opportunity to get out, meet new friends and make a real difference. These events also give you the chance to gain experience and build your CV and also make new friends and professional connections.”
