WORCESTERSHIRE’S town centres are full of places to eat, drink and be merry with something for all tastes.

Among the bars in the county’s busier parts are real ale pubs and micro-breweries which keep a more traditional flavour in mind for people looking for a night out.

The Campaign for Real Ale’s Good Beer guide 2020 is lists the best of the bars in the region for drinkers with a particular palette.

Here are five ideas from the guide to town centre pubs offering real ales, many of which are brewed close to home.

The Hop Pole in Friar Street Droitwich near the Norbury theatre dates back to the 18th century.

The pub has plenty to offer including community events, live music and food plus a range of beers.

The selection includes a mix of Marston’s ales as guest beers and Thatcher’s Heritage cider pulled on a hand pump.

Bromsgrove's Little Ale House on Worcester Road is the towns first micropub.

This friendly establishment is located close to the bus station and has plenty of ales on offer both to drink on the premises or to take away in special containers.

The house beer, called Half Cut, is brewed at Woodcote Manor and is served alongside usually five other brews pulled straight from the cask.

The Black Tap in Redditch claims to offer an antidote to the mundane and soulless brands in the high streets.

Located in the town centre by the bandstand, the pub was established in 2012 in a former office building, the Black Tap now offers what the guide says is a friendly atmosphere among the regulars in its bar.

The pub’s award-winning brewer creates a range of unique ales while home made pizza plus a range of gins and cocktails available.

Live music is also a regular feature at the pub on Church Green East.

Alestones in Tardebigge is a cosy micropub located in Tardebigge Court.

Opened in 2016 it offers four beers including a golden ale, a dark beer and a best bitter, plus cider.
