A STOURPORT Jewellery shop has appeared on a TV crime show about catching crooks in the act.

Mantons of Stourport on High Street, featured in an episode of BBC One's Caught Red Handed, a show which looks at new ways in which police and members of the public are bringing criminals to justice.

The show, which is hosted by Dominic Littlewood, aired on Friday, October 25.

It follows an overnight taking place at the Stourport jewellery shop in January where a burglar stole rings and earrings worth £10,000 in total.

CCTV footage shows the burglar breaking through the front window glass with a hammer.

The burglar later cuts his hand on the glass after reaching in to steal the valuables, leaving behind blood.

The episode reveals how the Stourport community helped gather evidence to bring the burglar to justice.

The episode is the 10th instalment of series eight and is currently available to view on BBC iPlayer.

Owner Russel Hinton says that the show contacted the jewellers following the incident.

He said: "It was nice to be on TV and put Stourport on the map.

"It's a shame it came about from the circumstances that happened.

"The crew were here for a couple of days filming and it was interesting to see how they did it.

"I had a nervous feeling about being on television. You don't know how it's going to come out."
