A NEW minibus service is now up and running on Kidderminster's Habberley Estate.
It comes after a petition was launched in July for the number 2 bus to be reinstated after elderly residents complained they had rarely left the house and felt "forgotten about" since Diamond stopped serving the estate last September.
The new service, which is made possible by Berrington Court retirement living development, leaves Purcell House in Salisbury Drive every Saturday at 10am, taking passengers into Kidderminster town centre before returning to the estate at 1pm.
Wyre Forest District Councillor Leigh Whitehouse said: "The suggested donation amount is £3 return. I’ve allocated some of community leadership fund to allow a reasonable suggested donation.
"It will be trialled for 10 weeks, if it is used we will look to extend the service to suit."
Any residents wishing to use the service must register beforehand by calling Ange McGuire on 07913 882836.
Wyre Forest Dial-a-Ride will still be running a twice weekly service on Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus an additional Friday service running until the week before Christmas.
