THE past 15 years have seen the Countryside Alliance honour thousands of businesses, highlighting the efforts that many rural communities go to for the benefit of their communities.
Now it's the turn of The Hub – a community development project based in St Peter's Church in Peterchurch – to be nominated in the Rural Enterprise category of the Countryside Alliance Rural Oscars.
The nomination comes at a busy time for The Hub's staff and volunteers who have recently completed year one of a three year project funded by a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
As part of its annual review, statistics were gathered for the period October 2018-October 2019 to demonstrate how important The Hub has become to the local community: 5234 visitors to The Hub Café; 4185 books borrowed from The Hub Library; 2640 hours given by volunteers; 456 groups, events and classes held and 384 cakes baked.
It's clear that The Hub at St Peter's is making a big impact.
