HEREFORDSHIRE FA will be distributing rainbow laces and captain armbands to teams across the county as part of the 2020 Rainbow Laces campaign.

Football is ‘coming out’ for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender plus (LGBT+) equality this month to celebrate Stonewall’s award-winning Rainbow Laces campaign and to be an ally of inclusion.

Clubs from across Herefordshire will join the likes of the Premier League, the EFL, the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and thousands of grassroots clubs in support of LGBT+ equality.

Scott Russell (Herefordshire FA Disability and Inclusion Officer) said: “Football is such an engaging and powerful sport with hundreds of people involved either as player, coach and/or volunteer.

"Herefordshire FA is pushing to continue to make the game inclusive for all, regardless of what your cultural background is, age, disability, sexuality or mental health.

"Because of this we are delighted to continue our efforts of creating an LGBT+ inclusive environment within our communities, Rainbow Laces campaign is a great platform to promote and develop the good work that is currently being done in the county.

“But we recognise that there is still work to be done, at Herefordshire FA we will continue to make significant steps to make the game inclusive for all."
