ANOTHER truly remarkable performance will usher in the return of the North Wales International Concert Series for 2020.

Rhyl Music Club will welcome saxophonist Jonathan Radford and pianist Ashley Fripp to the Town Hall to recommence its seasonal programme on Wednesday, January 8. at 7.30pm

The appearance from Radford marks his return following an unforgettable recital for the music club in the 2017 - 2018 season, this time in combination with an equally talented pianist described by composer Thomas Adés as “a genuine virtuoso, an astoundingly brilliant and masterly pianist”.

Together the performers will offer up a retinue featuring interpretations of works including Debussy's Prélude á l’après-midi d’un faune, Schumann's Violin Sonata no.1 op.105, Yoshimatsu's Fuzzy Bird sonata for alto saxophone and piano, Gershwin's Three Preludes and more.

Jonathan is an international prize-winner, notably named Commonwealth Musician of the Year, Gold Medal and First Prize winner in the 2018 Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition UK. He is also a prizewinner in the SaxOpen International Competition in Strasbourg, France and Concorso Internazionale de Musica Marco in Fiorindo, Italy.

He was selected as a Young Artist with Park Lane Group, Tunnell Trust, Making Music UK, and Countess of Munster Musical Trust - which is also supporting this concert. Jonathan was featured as a ‘Rising Star’ in BBC Music Magazine 2018.

Equally accomplished, British pianist Fripp frequently appears as solo recitalist, chamber musician and concerto soloist in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, having performed extensively throughout Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Australia.
